How Our Billing Works
At Little Gumnut Speech, sessions are designed to fit into your child’s world — whether that’s at home, in the community, at childcare, or via telehealth.
Our consultations range from 30 minutes to 2 hours of face-to-face or telehealth time. Each appointment also includes dedicated time for preparation, planning, and clinical note-taking, billed as part of your total session time.
This ensures your child’s therapy is thoughtful, individualised, and supported by the behind-the-scenes work that helps create meaningful progress.
For example, a 1-hour session includes an additional 10 minutes for preparation and 10 minutes for notes, billed at our standard hourly rate.
All standard inclusions and costs are outlined in the fee table above. Some of the most valuable work happens outside of your child’s session.
You may occasionally see items listed on your invoice from a date other than your scheduled appointment — this reflects the behind-the-scenes time your speech pathologist spends supporting your child’s progress.
These may include:
-
Reviewing reports and documentation (previous assessments, medical or school reports).
 -
Preparing reports or letters upon your request.
 -
Collaborating with educators or other professionals to ensure consistent support.
 -
Developing home or school programs tailored to your child’s goals.
 -
Creating custom resources or visual supports for use at home, school, or in the community (with your approval).

These services are billed at the standard hourly rate, and always discussed with you prior to invoicing.
-
We understand that life happens, especially with little ones.
If you need to cancel, please provide at least two full business days’ notice.
Cancellations with less notice, or missed appointments, will be billed at the full session rate, including preparation, case note, and travel time if applicable.
This policy ensures our clinicians can manage their schedules effectively and offer consistent support to all families.
If your child is unwell, please refer to our “Guide to Feeling Unwell and Cancelling Appointments” for more information.
We aim to make invoices as simple and transparent as possible.
Each invoice clearly outlines the service provided, the time billed, and the rate applied.
If you ever have questions or would like help understanding an invoice, our friendly admin team is here to help.
hello@littlegumnutspeech.com.auIf your child has a long-term health condition, your GP may provide a GP Chronic Condition Management Plan (GPCCMP).
This plan allows eligible families to access up to five Medicare-rebated sessions per calendar year for allied health services, including speech pathology.
Key points to know:
-
Your GP will provide the referral directly to us.
 -
Rebates apply to individual, face-to-face sessions of at least 20 minutes.
 -
Medicare rebates cannot be claimed in combination with private health insurance (“double-dipping”).
 -
Travel and non-face-to-face services are not eligible for rebates.

If you have a plan prepared before 1 July 2025, you can continue to use it until 30 June 2027, after which you’ll need to transition to the new GPCCMP.
Our team is happy to help you navigate this process and clarify which option best suits your family.
-
If you have any questions about our fees, funding options, or inclusions, we’re happy to help.
